Since the change in name, the museum has been through a lot of reconstruction. Many new galleries and exhibits have been added to it. Today it is famous for being a destination for educational entertainment.
An Oklahoma City travel guide will list the things to be seen at the museum. Amongst them is the gallery that is known as the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum. It pays tribute to the technology and the art of photography and houses the world's biggest 'photo-mural' which is a laserscape of the Grand Canyon. The International Gymnastics Hall of Fame is built in the honor of gymnasts who have played a part in furthering gymnastics. It has medals, awards, sculptures, apparatus and a library.
The Red Earth Museum is dedicated to cultures and lifestyles of the Native Americans. It has on display pieces of artwork and artifacts depicting them. 'Destination Space' has unique space artifacts like the Apollo Command Module Mission Simulator.
A new addition, 'the Tinkering Garage' is a place where one gets to create own models using tools. The Planetarium is a window to outer space and a chance to explore its wonders. 'Science Live' gives an opportunity to demystify physics and chemistry. 'Gadget Trees' houses the world's largest spiral slide. A family can spend a night at the museum under 'The Bright Nights' program.
