Visiting the Oklahoma State Capitol is an essential part of Oklahoma city travel. The Oklahoma State Capitol is a building of historical as well as administrative significance. It is basically the seat of the Oklahoma government of USA. The legislative and the judicial bodies of the city of Oklahoma assemble in the Oklahoma State Capitol during their sessions.

One of the unique facts about the location of the Oklahoma State Capitol is that it resides on the Oklahoma City Oil Field. Among the striking features of the Oklahoma State Capitol is the 'dome' of the building, which is 78m high, featuring a 5.2m tall bronze statue of a Native American. This statue represents the rich cultural heritage of the city's Native Americans.

This statue is popularly referred to as 'The Guardian' and was the brainchild of Frankfurt-Short-Burza.

The original architect of the entire State Capitol was the famous Solomon Layton. The Capitol is basically made of white limestone on a foundation of pink granite, which lends it a unique appeal.

Tourists visiting the Oklahoma State Capitol will be exposed to more than 100 specimens of art and sculptures. The capitol houses beautiful bronze sculptures, magnificent frescos and marvelous portraits.
