Comparison of Public Schools and Home Schools in Oklahoma- Make the right choice for your kids
Oklahoma, situated in the southern region of United States of America, approximately has a population of 3,687,050(as per a recent survey). Out of this, 20% is said to comprise of the student community. Schools, both primary and secondary, vocational schools and various Universities build up the educational framework of Oklahoma State.
Home Schooling and Public Schools have always been point of debate for both parents and children, and Oklahoma state people are no exception. So, let us jot down a few benefits and disadvantages of both systems:
- Quality of Education received- The general conception among people these days are that in public schools the education standard is going down day in and day out and in such cases home schooling would mean more attention towards the children. But again, selecting the right kind of teachers, remain the major criterion.
- Surrounding Environment and Negative Influence of Companions-Parents fear that their children might get corrupted and negatively influenced in presence of other so called 'bad' students. So at home, parents can keep an eye of their kid's movements. But nevertheless, being in a public school, students can learn the basics of cooperation and team building and leadership skills, maybe at a very elementary level, but nevertheless important and crucial.
- Extensive Study - It is a general belief, especially among American parents, that the public schools offer limited curriculum and the students are forced to study whatever they are taught there. Whereas, home schooling provides the student the opportunity to learn whatever they have natural inclination for and it can be said that at a very early age can achieve a sort of specialisation. But, again without the pressure from the school, and the added comfort of home, the willingness to learn depends majorly on the student himself.
On a concluding note, it can be said that the Oklahoma parents have to judge the pros and cons of both the options and select the right one, according to their needs and the one in which their children would benefit the most.
