Oklahoma City Museum of Art is one of the leading tourist destinations in the city. It is situated in the Donald W. Reynolds Visual Arts Center. The museum displays an amazing range of exclusive exhibits and also holds programs dealing with films, tours and camps.
Oklahoma City Museum of Art is home to an exclusive collection of Dale Chihuly glass. All its three floors are dedicated to art works. The ground floor consists of the Special Exhibition Gallery where mostly travel and tour exhibitions are held. The second and third floors are dedicated to the stunning permanent collection of the museum. The collection features art pieces from America and Europe belonging to the contemporary period, that is the 19th and the 20th centuries. There is a school inside the museum which offers classes and workshops for interested people. The school offers lessons on photography, painting and glassblowing. Seasonal camps for children are also organized by the school. The special Film Program features classic and modern international film shows in Samuel R. Noble Theater. These shows are held every week from Thursday to Sunday.
You can collect decorative objects, handcrafted articles and jewelry from the museum store. There is also a wide selection of art books in the store. The museum cafe and restaurant offer good food and beverages for the visitors. Oklahoma City Museum of Art offers a unique audio tour over the cell phone. It operates between 10am and 5 pm during the weekdays except Thursdays when it is open till 9pm. It remains closed on Mondays.
